French AOCs
French AOCs, or Appellations d'Origine Contrôlée, are a system of designations that ensure the quality and authenticity of French agricultural products, particularly wine, cheese, and olive oil. Established in the 1930s, AOCs regulate where and how these products are made, focusing on traditional methods and specific geographic areas.
Each AOC has strict criteria, including grape varieties, production techniques, and geographical boundaries. This system helps consumers identify high-quality products and supports local producers by preserving regional traditions and promoting unique flavors associated with specific areas, such as Bordeaux for wine or Roquefort for cheese.
