Fraxinus Excelsior
Fraxinus excelsior, commonly known as the European ash, is a deciduous tree native to Europe and parts of Asia. It can grow up to 40 meters tall and is characterized by its tall, straight trunk and broad canopy. The leaves are compound, typically consisting of 5 to 13 leaflets, and turn yellow in autumn.
This tree thrives in a variety of soil types and prefers moist, well-drained locations. Fraxinus excelsior is important for biodiversity, providing habitat and food for various wildlife. However, it has faced threats from diseases like ash dieback, which have significantly impacted its populations across Europe.
