Francis I, Duke of Lorraine
Francis I, Duke of Lorraine (1708-1765), was a prominent European nobleman and the husband of Maria Theresa of Austria. He became the Duke of Lorraine in 1729 and later held the title of Grand Duke of Tuscany. His reign was marked by efforts to modernize his territories and strengthen their economies.
In 1736, Francis I was elected Holy Roman Emperor, a position that enhanced his influence in European politics. He played a significant role in the Habsburg Monarchy and was involved in various diplomatic efforts during his rule, contributing to the stability of the region during a tumultuous period.
