Forum Boarium
The Forum Boarium was an ancient marketplace in Rome, located near the Tiber River. It served as a commercial hub where traders sold livestock, particularly cattle, which is reflected in its name, as "boarium" relates to cattle. The forum was also a site for various temples and public buildings, making it an important center for both trade and religious activities.
One of the notable structures in the Forum Boarium is the Temple of Hercules Victor, a round temple dedicated to the Roman god Hercules. Another significant building is the Temple of Portunus, which is dedicated to the god of ports and harbors. These temples highlight the forum's dual role as a marketplace and a religious site in ancient Rome.
