Forest History Society
The Forest History Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of forests and forestry in the United States. Founded in 1946, it serves as a resource for researchers, educators, and the public, providing access to historical documents, publications, and educational programs related to forest management and conservation.
The Society also publishes the journal Forest History Today, which features articles on various aspects of forest history, including the impact of forestry practices on ecosystems and communities. Through its efforts, the Forest History Society aims to foster a greater understanding of the relationship between people and forests throughout history.
