Five Nations Championship
The Five Nations Championship was an annual rugby union competition held between five European countries: England, France, Ireland, Italy, and Wales. It originated in 1883 as the Home Nations Championship, featuring only England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. In 1910, France joined, leading to the name change.
The tournament typically took place in February and March, with each team playing the others once. The team with the most points at the end of the tournament was crowned the champion. In 2000, the championship expanded to include Italy, becoming the Six Nations Championship, which continues today.
