Fitts and Posner model
The Fitts and Posner model describes the stages of motor skill learning, which are essential for understanding how individuals acquire new skills. The model consists of three stages: the cognitive stage, where learners understand the task; the associative stage, where they refine their skills through practice; and the autonomous stage, where the skill becomes automatic and requires little conscious effort.
This model is widely used in fields such as sports training, rehabilitation, and education to enhance performance and learning. By recognizing these stages, instructors can tailor their teaching methods to better support learners at each phase of skill acquisition.
