Firebrat
The Firebrat is a small, wingless insect belonging to the family Lepismatidae. It is closely related to the silverfish and is typically found in warm, humid environments. Firebrats are known for their ability to thrive in temperatures ranging from 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, making them common in places like attics, basements, and near heating systems.
These insects are characterized by their elongated bodies, which can reach up to 1.5 centimeters in length, and their mottled brown coloration. Firebrats primarily feed on starchy materials, including paper, glue, and even dead insects. Their presence can indicate moisture issues in a building, prompting the need for pest control measures.
