Femoral Hernia
A femoral hernia occurs when tissue, often part of the intestine, pushes through a weak spot in the femoral canal, located in the groin area. This type of hernia is more common in women and can cause a noticeable bulge, discomfort, or pain, especially when lifting heavy objects or straining.
If left untreated, a femoral hernia can lead to serious complications, such as incarceration or strangulation, where the blood supply to the trapped tissue is cut off. Surgical intervention is typically required to repair the hernia and prevent further health issues.
