Female Genital Cutting
Female Genital Cutting (FGC), also known as female circumcision, refers to the partial or total removal of external female genitalia for non-medical reasons. This practice is often rooted in cultural, religious, or social beliefs and is prevalent in various regions, particularly in parts of Africa, the Middle East, and some communities in Asia.
FGC can have serious health consequences, including severe pain, infections, and complications during childbirth. It is recognized as a violation of human rights and has been condemned by numerous organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), which advocates for the abandonment of this practice to protect women's health and rights.
