Federal Shariat Court
The Federal Shariat Court is a specialized court in Pakistan that examines and ensures that laws comply with Islamic principles. Established in 1980, it has the authority to review legislation and can declare laws unconstitutional if they contradict Sharia law.
The court consists of a Chief Justice and several other judges, all of whom are well-versed in Islamic jurisprudence. It plays a crucial role in interpreting Islamic law within the legal framework of Pakistan, addressing issues related to personal status, family law, and other matters where Sharia is applicable.
