European Stonechat
The European Stonechat is a small bird belonging to the family Saxicolidae. It measures about 12-13 cm in length and is characterized by its distinctive black head, white collar, and orange-brown breast. This bird is commonly found in open habitats such as grasslands, heathlands, and scrub areas across Europe and parts of Asia.
European Stonechats are known for their distinctive call, which sounds like a series of sharp "chack" notes. They primarily feed on insects and berries, often perching on low shrubs or fences to spot their prey. During the breeding season, they build nests in dense vegetation, laying 4-6 eggs that hatch after about two weeks.
