European Lapwing
The European Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) is a wading bird commonly found in open fields and wetlands across Europe and parts of Asia. It is easily recognizable by its striking black and white plumage, long wings, and distinctive crest. The bird typically measures about 28 to 35 centimeters in length and has a wingspan of 70 to 80 centimeters.
These birds are known for their loud, distinctive calls and are often seen in flocks. They primarily feed on insects, worms, and other invertebrates found in the soil. The European Lapwing is also notable for its elaborate courtship displays during the breeding season, which often include aerial acrobatics.
