Lapwings
Lapwings are medium-sized wading birds known for their distinctive black and white plumage and long, pointed wings. They belong to the family Charadriidae and are commonly found in wetlands, grasslands, and agricultural fields across Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa. Their unique call and elaborate courtship displays make them easily recognizable.
These birds are also known for their protective behavior during nesting season. Lapwings often perform distraction displays to draw potential predators away from their eggs or chicks. They primarily feed on insects, worms, and other invertebrates found in the soil, making them important for maintaining ecological balance in their habitats.
