Revolution of Dignity
The "Revolution of Dignity," also known as the Euromaidan, was a series of protests in Ukraine that began in November 2013. The movement started in response to then-President Viktor Yanukovych's decision to suspend an association agreement with the European Union, favoring closer ties with Russia. Protesters demanded greater political freedom, anti-corruption measures, and alignment with European values.
The protests escalated in early 2014, leading to violent clashes between demonstrators and security forces. By February 2014, the unrest resulted in Yanukovych fleeing to Russia and the establishment of a new interim government. The Revolution of Dignity significantly impacted Ukraine's political landscape and its relationship with the West.
