Eurasian Moorhen
The Eurasian Moorhen, scientifically known as Gallinula chloropus, is a medium-sized waterbird found in wetlands across Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa. It has a distinctive appearance with a dark plumage, a bright red frontal shield, and yellow-green legs. This bird is often seen foraging in shallow waters for aquatic plants, insects, and small invertebrates.
Eurasian Moorhens are known for their loud, distinctive calls and can often be spotted swimming or walking along the edges of ponds and marshes. They build nests in dense vegetation, where they lay clutches of 5 to 10 eggs. These birds are part of the Rallidae family, which includes other rail species.
