Eurasian Coot
The Eurasian Coot is a medium-sized waterbird found across Europe, Asia, and parts of North Africa. It has a distinctive black body, a white frontal shield, and a stout bill. Coots are often seen swimming in freshwater lakes, ponds, and marshes, where they feed on aquatic plants, seeds, and small invertebrates.
These birds are known for their strong legs and lobed toes, which help them navigate through water. During the breeding season, the Eurasian Coot builds nests near the water's edge, often using reeds and other vegetation. They are social birds, often seen in groups, and are known for their loud, distinctive calls.
