Ethnic Groups in China
China is home to 56 recognized ethnic groups, with the Han Chinese being the largest, making up about 91% of the population. The other 55 ethnic groups, such as the Zhuang, Manchu, and Tibetan, each have their own unique languages, cultures, and traditions. These groups are spread across various regions, contributing to the country's rich cultural diversity.
The Chinese government promotes ethnic unity while also allowing for cultural preservation. Many ethnic minorities have their own autonomous regions, such as Xinjiang for the Uyghurs and Tibet for the Tibetan people. This framework aims to balance national identity with respect for local customs and practices.
