Erica tetralix
Erica tetralix, commonly known as cross-leaved heath, is a flowering plant in the Ericaceae family. It is native to parts of Europe, particularly in heathland and moorland habitats. This perennial shrub typically grows to a height of 20 to 50 centimeters and features small, needle-like leaves arranged in whorls of four.
The plant produces bell-shaped pink to purple flowers that bloom from late spring to early summer. Erica tetralix is an important species for local ecosystems, providing nectar for pollinators like bees and butterflies. It thrives in acidic, well-drained soils and is often found in areas with low nutrient levels.
