Eranthis hyemalis
Eranthis hyemalis, commonly known as winter aconite, is a perennial flowering plant belonging to the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae. It is native to Europe and is often one of the first flowers to bloom in early spring, typically emerging through the snow. The plant features bright yellow, cup-shaped flowers and distinctive, palmate leaves that grow close to the ground.
Winter aconite thrives in well-drained, rich soil and prefers partial to full shade. It is often used in gardens for its early blooms and ability to naturalize, forming dense carpets of color. However, all parts of the plant are toxic if ingested, so caution is advised.
