Epley maneuver
The Epley maneuver is a simple, non-invasive procedure used to treat benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). This condition causes brief episodes of dizziness when the head is moved in certain positions. The maneuver helps reposition tiny calcium crystals in the inner ear, which are responsible for the vertigo symptoms.
During the Epley maneuver, a person is guided through a series of head and body movements. These movements aim to move the displaced crystals back to their proper location in the inner ear, alleviating dizziness and restoring balance. It is often performed by healthcare professionals but can also be done at home with proper instruction.
