Epilepsy Treatment
Epilepsy treatment primarily involves the use of medications known as anticonvulsants to help control seizures. These medications work by stabilizing electrical activity in the brain. Doctors often prescribe a specific drug based on the type of seizures a patient experiences, and it may take time to find the most effective medication with the fewest side effects.
In some cases, if medications do not adequately control seizures, other options may be considered. These can include surgery to remove the area of the brain causing seizures, vagus nerve stimulation to help regulate brain activity, or a special diet known as the ketogenic diet that may reduce seizure frequency.
