Epididymitis
Epididymitis is an inflammation of the epididymis, a coiled tube located at the back of each testicle that stores and matures sperm. This condition can cause pain, swelling, and redness in the affected area. It is often caused by infections, which can be bacterial or viral, and may be linked to sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia or gonorrhea.
Symptoms of epididymitis may include a gradual onset of pain in the scrotum, tenderness, and sometimes fever. Treatment typically involves antibiotics if an infection is present, along with rest and pain relief measures. If left untreated, complications can arise, including abscess formation or infertility.
