Emydidae
The family Emydidae consists of a diverse group of freshwater and terrestrial turtles commonly known as pond turtles. They are primarily found in North America, but some species inhabit parts of Asia and Europe. Emydidae turtles are characterized by their smooth, domed shells and webbed feet, which make them excellent swimmers.
Members of the Emydidae family include well-known species such as the painted turtle and the red-eared slider. These turtles are often found in ponds, lakes, and rivers, where they bask in the sun and feed on aquatic plants, insects, and small fish. Their adaptability to various habitats contributes to their widespread distribution.
