Empress Jitō
Empress Jitō was the 41st emperor of Japan, reigning from 686 to 697 AD. She was the daughter of Emperor Tenji and the wife of Emperor Monmu. Jitō is notable for being one of the few female emperors in Japanese history and played a significant role in the development of the imperial court.
During her reign, Empress Jitō focused on consolidating power and promoting agricultural reforms. She is also known for her support of Buddhism, which flourished during her time. Her reign contributed to the stability and growth of the Nara period in Japan.
