Emperor Go-Sanjo
Emperor Go-Sanjo was the 72nd emperor of Japan, reigning from 1068 to 1072. He was born in 1045 and was a member of the Fujiwara clan, which played a significant role in the politics of the time. His reign was marked by efforts to restore imperial authority and reduce the power of the Fujiwara regents.
During his short reign, Go-Sanjo focused on governance and the administration of the Heian period. After abdicating in 1072, he became a retired emperor, known as a Daijō-tennō, and continued to influence politics until his death in 1074. His legacy includes a commitment to the imperial institution.
