Emperor Gaozong was the third emperor of the Song Dynasty in China, ruling from 1127 to 1162. He was born as Zhao Ji and became emperor after the fall of the Northern Song to the Jurchen tribes. His reign is noted for efforts to stabilize the empire and restore its economy after the invasion.
During his rule, Gaozong focused on military reforms and diplomatic relations, particularly with the Jurchen and Mongol tribes. He also promoted cultural and artistic achievements, fostering a period of relative peace and prosperity known as the Southern Song era.
