Emmy Hennings
Emmy Hennings was a German poet, performer, and cabaret artist born on March 3, 1885, in Flensburg, Germany. She is best known for her association with the Dada movement, which emerged in the early 20th century as a reaction to the horrors of World War I. Hennings was a prominent figure in the Berlin avant-garde scene and often performed her poetry in cabarets, blending literature with performance art.
In addition to her artistic contributions, Hennings was also the partner of the influential artist Hugo Ball, who was a key figure in the Dada movement. Her work often explored themes of love, loss, and the absurdity of life, reflecting the tumultuous times in which she lived. Hennings passed away on March 10, 1948, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneering female voice in modernist literature.
