Elizabeth de Clare
Elizabeth de Clare was a prominent English noblewoman born in 1295. She was the daughter of Gilbert de Clare, the 7th Earl of Gloucester, and Joan of Acre, a daughter of King Edward I. Elizabeth inherited vast estates and became one of the wealthiest women in England after her father's death.
In 1316, Elizabeth married Richard de Burgh, the 2nd Earl of Ulster, strengthening her family's political alliances. After his death, she became a significant landowner and was involved in various charitable activities, including founding the Franciscan friary in Bristol. Elizabeth de Clare's legacy continued through her descendants, influencing English nobility.
