Eldhraun
Eldhraun is a vast lava field located in Iceland, formed during an eruption of the Laki volcano in 1783-1784. Spanning approximately 600 square kilometers, it is one of the largest lava fields in the world. The landscape is characterized by its unique moss-covered lava formations, which create a striking contrast against the surrounding scenery.
The moss that blankets the lava field is primarily Icelandic moss, which thrives in the region's cool, damp climate. This area is not only significant for its geological features but also serves as a habitat for various plant and animal species, contributing to Iceland's rich biodiversity.
