Edward VI was the son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, born on October 12, 1537. He became King of England at the age of nine after his father's death in 1547. His reign lasted until his death in 1553, making him the first monarch of the Tudor dynasty to rule as a child.
During his short reign, Edward VI was influenced by his regents, who promoted the Protestant Reformation in England. He introduced significant religious reforms, including the Book of Common Prayer. Edward's health declined, and he died at the age of 15, leaving no heirs.
