Edo Castle
Edo Castle, located in present-day Tokyo, Japan, was the seat of the Tokugawa shogunate from 1603 to 1868. Originally built in the early 15th century, it served as a symbol of power and governance during the Edo period. The castle complex included moats, walls, and various buildings, showcasing traditional Japanese architecture.
After the fall of the shogunate, Edo Castle was renamed Tokyo Imperial Palace and became the residence of the Emperor of Japan. While much of the original structure was destroyed, parts of the castle's foundations and some gates remain, offering a glimpse into Japan's feudal history.
