Eastern Gorillas
Eastern gorillas are one of the two species of gorillas, primarily found in the dense forests of Central Africa. They are divided into two subspecies: the Mountain Gorilla and the Eastern Lowland Gorilla. These primates are known for their large size, with males weighing up to 450 pounds. They have a predominantly herbivorous diet, feeding on leaves, stems, and fruits.
Eastern gorillas live in social groups called troops, typically led by a dominant male known as a silverback. They are critically endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, and disease. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect their populations and habitats in the wild.
