Eastern Frogmouth
The Eastern Frogmouth is a nocturnal bird found in the forests of eastern Australia and New Guinea. It is known for its unique appearance, resembling a large, flat-headed owl. This bird has mottled brown and gray plumage that provides excellent camouflage against tree bark, helping it blend into its surroundings.
Eastern Frogmouths primarily feed on insects and small vertebrates, which they catch using their wide, gaping mouths. They are known for their distinctive call, which sounds like a low, mournful "whoop." These birds are part of the Podargidae family, which includes other frogmouth species.
