Frogmouths
Frogmouths are unique birds belonging to the family Podargidae, found primarily in tropical and subtropical regions of Australia, Southeast Asia, and New Guinea. They are known for their wide, flattened bills and camouflaged plumage, which helps them blend into their surroundings. Frogmouths are nocturnal and primarily feed on insects and small vertebrates.
These birds are often mistaken for owls due to their similar appearance and behavior. Frogmouths are also known for their distinctive nesting habits, where they lay eggs in a shallow depression on a branch, relying on their cryptic coloration to protect their young from predators.
