Eastern Chalukya Dynasty
The Eastern Chalukya Dynasty was a prominent South Indian dynasty that ruled from the 7th to the 12th centuries. They were based in the region of present-day Andhra Pradesh and were known for their contributions to art, architecture, and literature. The dynasty was established by Vijayaditya, who was a descendant of the earlier Chalukya Dynasty of Badami.
The Eastern Chalukyas are particularly noted for their temple architecture, which reflects a blend of Dravidian and Nagara styles. Their most famous architectural achievement is the Kakatiya temple at Brahmapuri. The dynasty played a significant role in the cultural and political landscape of southern India, influencing neighboring regions and dynasties.
