Eastern Bengal Railway
The Eastern Bengal Railway was a significant railway system in British India, established in 1880. It primarily served the eastern regions of Bengal, facilitating transportation and trade. The railway connected major cities and towns, enhancing economic development and mobility for the local population.
In 1947, following the partition of India, the Eastern Bengal Railway was divided between India and Pakistan. The eastern section became part of the newly formed Pakistan Railway, while the Indian portion was integrated into the Indian Railways. This division marked a crucial change in the railway's operational landscape and its impact on regional connectivity.
