East Africa Protectorate
The East Africa Protectorate was a British colonial territory established in the late 19th century, primarily covering parts of present-day Kenya and Uganda. It was created to facilitate trade and protect British interests in the region, particularly along the East African coast and the Indian Ocean.
In 1895, the protectorate was formally declared, and it became a significant area for European settlement and agriculture. The territory was later renamed the Kenya Colony in 1920, reflecting its growing importance within the British Empire. The protectorate's establishment had lasting impacts on the local communities and the region's development.
