Kenya Colony
The Kenya Colony was a British protectorate established in the late 19th century, officially becoming a colony in 1920. It was part of the larger East Africa region and was known for its diverse landscapes, including savannas, mountains, and lakes. The colony attracted European settlers, particularly in the highlands, due to its favorable climate and agricultural potential.
The colony's administration faced challenges, including conflicts with the indigenous Kikuyu people, who resisted land dispossession and colonial rule. This tension eventually contributed to the Mau Mau Uprising in the 1950s, a significant movement that sought independence from British colonial rule, leading to Kenya's eventual independence in 1963.
