Eared Grebe
The Eared Grebe is a small waterbird known for its distinctive ear-like tufts of feathers during the breeding season. It typically measures about 12 to 15 inches in length and has a slender body with a pointed bill. This species is commonly found in freshwater lakes and marshes across North America, especially during migration.
Eared Grebes are excellent divers, feeding primarily on small fish and invertebrates. They are often seen in pairs or small groups, and their plumage changes with the seasons. In winter, they adopt a more subdued coloration, making them less conspicuous in their aquatic habitats.
