EDSA II
EDSA II, also known as the Second People Power Revolution, took place in the Philippines from January 16 to 20, 2001. It was a peaceful uprising that aimed to oust President Joseph Estrada, who faced allegations of corruption and misconduct. The movement was largely supported by various sectors of society, including politicians, religious leaders, and ordinary citizens.
The protest occurred along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), a major thoroughfare in Metro Manila. Demonstrators gathered to call for Estrada's resignation, leading to his eventual removal from office. Following his ousting, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo assumed the presidency, marking a significant moment in Philippine political history.
