Dyslipidemia
Dyslipidemia is a medical condition characterized by abnormal levels of lipids in the blood, including cholesterol and triglycerides. It can involve high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, often referred to as "bad" cholesterol, or low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, known as "good" cholesterol. This imbalance can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular problems.
The causes of dyslipidemia can vary and may include factors such as poor diet, lack of physical activity, obesity, and genetic predispositions. Lifestyle changes, such as adopting a healthier diet and increasing exercise, are often recommended to manage dyslipidemia. In some cases, medications may be prescribed to help regulate lipid levels and reduce associated health risks.
