Dylann Roof
Dylann Roof is an American man who gained national attention for committing a mass shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina on June 17, 2015. During a prayer service, he opened fire, killing nine African American church members. Roof was motivated by racial hatred, which he later expressed in a manifesto.
After the shooting, Roof was arrested and faced multiple charges, including federal hate crime charges. In 2017, he was convicted and sentenced to death. His actions sparked widespread discussions about gun control, racism, and the need for social change in the United States.
