Dukes of Luxembourg
The Dukes of Luxembourg were a noble family that ruled the region of Luxembourg from the late Middle Ages until the 19th century. The title of Duke was first established in 1354 when Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor, elevated the count of Luxembourg to a duchy. The dukes played a significant role in European politics, often marrying into other royal families.
The last Duke of Luxembourg was Henri, who reigned until the Grand Duchy was established in 1815. Today, Luxembourg is a constitutional monarchy, and the title of Duke is no longer used in an official capacity, but the historical significance of the dukes remains an important part of the country's heritage.
