Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha
The Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was a title held by members of the German nobility, specifically from the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. This house originated in the 19th century and played a significant role in European royal history, with connections to various royal families, including the British royal family through Queen Victoria.
The title was established in 1826 when the duchies of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha were united. The last reigning duke was Carl Eduard, who ruled until the end of World War I in 1918, when the German monarchy was abolished. The duchy is now part of modern-day Germany.
