Duke Ludwig the Bavarian
Duke Ludwig the Bavarian was a prominent ruler of Bavaria from 1294 to 1347. He was born in 1282 and became known for his efforts to strengthen the power of the Bavarian duchy. Ludwig played a significant role in the politics of the Holy Roman Empire, often clashing with other powerful figures, including the Pope.
Ludwig was also a key supporter of the Habsburg dynasty and sought to expand his territory through strategic marriages and alliances. His reign was marked by conflicts, including the Battle of Mühldorf in 1322, where he defeated his rival, Frederick the Fair, solidifying his position in the region.
