Duke Georg of Mecklenburg-Strelitz
Duke Georg of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was a German nobleman born on June 10, 1740. He belonged to the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, a branch of the larger House of Mecklenburg. Georg became Duke in 1752 after the death of his father, Duke Charles II. His reign was marked by efforts to modernize his duchy and improve the welfare of his subjects.
