Duchy of Clarence
The Duchy of Clarence was a historical title in the English peerage, created in 1362 for Lionel of Antwerp, the second son of King Edward III. The duchy was part of the larger royal estate and included lands in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. It was one of the many titles held by members of the royal family during the medieval period.
The title became extinct in 1478 when George Plantagenet, the last Duke of Clarence, was executed. The duchy was later revived in the 19th century but has since remained a ceremonial title without significant political power.
