Dr. Homi J. Bhabha
Dr. Homi J. Bhabha was an influential Indian physicist, known as the father of the Indian nuclear program. Born on October 30, 1909, in Mumbai, he studied at the University of Cambridge and made significant contributions to the field of nuclear physics. Bhabha played a crucial role in establishing the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 1945, which became a leading center for scientific research in India.
Bhabha's work included pioneering research in cosmic rays and the development of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Atomic Energy Commission of India in 1948. Tragically, Dr. Bhabha died in a plane crash on January 24, 1966, but his legacy continues to influence science and technology in India.
