Dr. Biruté Galdikas
Dr. Biruté Galdikas is a renowned primatologist and conservationist, best known for her extensive research on orangutans in Borneo. Born on June 10, 1946, in Germany, she has dedicated over four decades to studying the behavior and ecology of these great apes, contributing significantly to our understanding of their social structures and habitats.
In 1971, Dr. Galdikas founded the Orangutan Foundation International, which focuses on the conservation of orangutans and their rainforest habitats. Her work has raised awareness about the threats facing these animals, including habitat destruction and poaching, and has inspired many to engage in wildlife conservation efforts.
